Oct 2013 - Current
For the last 3 and a half years I’ve been leading the XCOM Media creative team, which services some amazing clients such as Tourism Queensland and Flight Centre. XCOM is a digital marketing and communications agency that combines strategy, creativity, technology and data for ground breaking results. With XCOM I have been given the huge opportunity to expand my skill set, focusing on UI, UX, strategy, acquisition campaigns, art direction and designing for mobile.
Sept 2011 - Oct 2013
I was signed on at Decoder to mainly work on Suncorp Bank, Santos GLNG and Ergon. Under direction of the Creative Director Nick Pritchard and later Ken Roney, I had the opportunity to work on some exciting creative campaigns including Suncorp Bank’s 2012 Bridge to Brisbane ‘runPositive’ app and Byron Bay Council’s ‘Cringe the Binge’ campaign. I was mentored on the power of an idea and the importance of a great strategy.
June 2011 - Sept 2011
I freelanced at Junior - Brisbane’s award winning full service advertising agency for over 3 months until I got locked into a full-time role by Decoder. At Junior I worked on Griffith University, Bank of Queensland, Jupiters Hotel & Casino and got dominated a lot of table tennis. Their creative team boasts a lot of power hitters.
Freelance: Open Wananga, Major Events
July 2010 - June 2011
After a gap year in London, I returned to New Zealand to study Web Design and Development and expand my digital skill set. During that time I picked up two great freelance clients Open Wananga and Major Events.
Open Wananga is a government funded home based learning provider with an amazing goal to get adults out of unemployment and back into learning. With Open Wananga I designed a range of correspondence course packs and national print ads.
Major Events organised the IPC World Athletics Championships in 2011. This was the last chance for many athletes to qualify for the Paralympics. I was one of the senior designers rolling out everything from podium design to website design.
PrintStop Plus (printing.com)
July 2006 - October 2008
PrintStop gave me my first full-time design job out of college. I was an inhouse designer doing business card design, brochure design and offset print setup. PrintStop Plus was a good first step into the industry. I learnt the in and outs of designing for print, process colours, stock weights and how many different script fonts there are for wedding invites.
